L’Arche Edmonton

Formed in 1972, L’Arche Edmonton, known by many as Shalom Community, has a rich history as the second L’Arche community to be established in Canada. Mutual relationships and trust in God are at the heart of our journey.

There are currently six L’Arche homes in Edmonton and Sherwood Park for people with developmental disabilities of various ages, and live-in assistants who come from countries around the world. Our Day Program provides further opportunities to share life together and develop relationships beyond our community. L’Arche Edmonton is committed to building a true sense of belonging, and celebrating the unique gifts of each individual who chooses to live and work with us.

Edmonton is a beautiful city. It has a wonderful river valley with extensive walking trails; we are world renowned for our summer festivals and within a few hours drive of the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
