L’Arche Winnipeg

Located in Manitoba, at the geographical centre of Canada, L’Arche Winnipeg has been creating homes and social opportunities for people with developmental disabilities since 1973.

L’Arche Winnipeg began in 1973. Today our community has 6 houses and 2 apartments where 27 members with a developmental disability have found a caring home, living with approximately 25 assistants.

In 2012, L’Arche Winnipeg started a restaurant – L’Arche Tova Café – which is open 6 days a week. In addition to providing wholesome food in a warm and welcoming setting, the Café strives to provide meaningful employment to people with a disability, and to build a more compassionate and humane society.

Our Café and other outreach projects help us to further our mission “to make known the gifts of people with intellectual disabilities, revealed through mutually transforming relationships.”

Winnipeg (population of 750,000) is the geographical center of Canada and is situated just 95 kilometers north of the United States border.
