L’Arche Lethbridge

A community recognized as a model for the quality of its relationships and the support it provides, located in a small city in beautiful southern Alberta.

Lethbridge is one of the warmest and sunniest cities in Canada. With a population of 85,000, Lethbridge has the friendliness and community spirit often associated with smaller cities, with many of the educational and recreational opportunities found in larger cities.

L’Arche Lethbridge opened its first home, Chinook House, on November 1, 1991. Ruah House was opened on March 29, 1999. (“Ruah” is a Hebrew word meaning “wind” or “spirit”.) Our third home opened on September 28, 2013 and was named “Amani” (peace in Swahili). Four adults with disabilities and three or four assistants live in each home. Like the city of Lethbridge, our community is relatively small. We gather together on a regular basis for prayer nights, community nights, celebrations – or just because we want to!
